Mr. Charles River Lodge – Hsipaw
Mr. Charles has been operating in Hsipaw since 1996. The Riverview Lodge is the newest venture and offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown Hsipaw. The lodge is pleasantly situated between two traditional Shan villages; the βNaug Gadβ village and the βKun Jongβ village. This location allows for ease of access into the neighboring villages throughout the day where our guests have an opportunity to experience the βday to dayβ of traditional Shan villages as well as observe their seasonal customs throughout different times of the year. Mr.Charles Riverview Lodge, while maintaining the integrity of a traditional Shan style-design, offers modern comfort and conveniences. The lodge is comprised of just 13 rooms, constructed in a way that offers a contemporary twist on the traditional Shan home. Our guests have the choice between double and twin rooms. Both style of rooms are equipped with beautiful locally-crafted wooden framed beds, walk in shower with hot water, satellite TV, mini-bar, stocked fridge, and safety deposit box. We are also able to offer free WI-FI at the restaurant as well as A-C and heating. We pride ourselves on our room interiorβs originality and detail as careful thought and consideration was put into both. Our private balconies are however our most talked about feature. The back balcony of each of our rooms overlooks the Douthawady River while the front porch offers a spectacular view of the adjacent rice paddy fields and rolling mountain line. Our team boasts in unrivaled service through years of experience in organizing activities in and around Hsipaw for our guests. We are able to provide bicycles and motorbike rentals for going around town as well as offer tuk tuk services. We also have an in-house travel agent that can facilitate booking or cancelling trips between cities all around Myanmar. We work with some of the best trekking guides Hsipaw has to offer for those more adventuresome guests. We can arrange for half day, full day, or multi day treks through Shan and/or Palaung villages. All of our guides are extremely knowledgeable of the surrounding areas and speak English fluently in hopes to not only make your treks more enjoyable but to also generate cross cultural friendships. Interested in getting a little wet? We are happy to be one of the firsts in the whole of Myanmar to offer tubing down the river. We are proud to offer complimentary breakfast served every morning in our wonderful open-air dining space. Our guests have the option of local or western style breakfast βor a combination of the two- as they gaze out over the Douthawady River or across the beautiful rice paddy fields and rolling mountain range adjacent the lodge. We also have an experienced chef on staff, ready and willing to cook local or western cuisine for your enjoyment during lunch and dinner times. Anywhere from local Shan style food to Italian pizza you will absolutely not walk away disappointed. One of our more talked about services is our traditional Myanmar massage offered either in your room or under our beautiful tree canopy. A combination of our experienced masseuse and mango, jackfruit and teak tree canopy will undoubtedly be a highlight of your time in Myanmar.
